Stop Fighting the Same Battles. Start Building a Product Organisation That Works.
RELEASING OCT 2025
Scaling product teams isn’t just about hiring more people. It’s about designing an organisation that delivers impact without descending into chaos. Creating Empowered Product Teams cuts through the noise to show you how to build, evolve, and lead empowered product teams that actually work.
The Journey to This Book
This book started life as something entirely different. Initially, it was called It Depends, a book about making product decisions in context. Then it expanded into something far bigger—an ambitious attempt to map out all the key decisions in product management under the title Making Product Decisions. But let’s be real: that was a massive undertaking.
Instead of writing a book that tried to cover everything, I zeroed in on a critical but often overlooked aspect of product leadership—how you design, structure, and evolve product teams to deliver real impact. The concept of “empowered product teams” gets thrown around a lot, but what does it actually take to create one? This book unpacks the reality behind the buzzword and gives you a clear, no-nonsense guide to making it happen.
Who This Book Is For
This book is for product leaders, Heads of Product, CPOs, VPs, and anyone responsible for structuring and scaling product teams. It’s also for product managers, designers, and engineers—because let’s be honest, a broken org makes your job miserable. Whether you’re leading the change or trying to survive it, this book will help you navigate the reality of building teams that thrive.
What’s Inside
A No-Nonsense Guide to Product Organisation Design – Why structure, ownership, and alignment make or break your team’s success.
The Truth About Empowered Teams – How to build real ownership without falling into the autonomy-without-accountability trap.
A Narrative-Driven Approach – Follow the journey of Elena Vasquez, a newly hired Head of Product who inherits a mess and has to fix it. No abstract fluff, just real-world scenarios with actionable insights.
Decision-Making Frameworks – Practical strategies to balance autonomy and alignment, structure teams, and navigate the inevitable trade-offs.
Stay in the Loop
The book will be released in the second half of 2025, but you don’t have to wait to start learning. I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes updates, recordings of research interviews, early insights, and more along the way.
Stay in the loop and get early insights before the full release.
Why This Book?
Most books on product teams either give you a rigid framework that doesn’t fit your context or regurgitate best practices that sound good in theory but fail in reality. This book is different.
Brutally Practical – No vague theories. Just straight-talking advice grounded in experience.
Focused on Decisions, Not Dogma – Because there’s no perfect model, only trade-offs.
Written for People Actually Doing the Work – Whether you’re in leadership or deep in the trenches, this book helps you make better choices.
